Yeastar P-Series

Yeastar P-Series Appliance Edition: P550, P560 and P570 compared

Three units cover almost every building we work in. The P550 is for a small site with no growth. The P560 is the workhorse: 100 users out of the box, 200 with a module, one expansion board, and the hotel add-on. The P570 is for 300 to 500 users or two expansion boards, which usually means a larger hotel or a multi-building campus. The P520 exists, but it has no API and no hotel integration, so it is not a unit we recommend for the buildings on this site.

Modules and boards

The appliance takes small telephony modules on its own slots, and the P560 and P570 take expansion boards that add more slots.

Module or boardWhat it providesTypical use in our buildings
S2Two analog station ports (FXS)Room phones, pool phone, a fax, a door phone, the fire panel’s line
O2Two analog line ports (FXO)A copper line kept for fallback, or a line from a legacy system during a takeover
SOOne FXS and one FXO, with PSTN fallbackA single analog line that still works if the unit loses power
B2Two BRI portsRare in Western Canada now; occasionally found in older municipal installs
3G / 4G LTEOne cellular voice channel, or cellular data on a SIMA backup path for an emergency line where the wired connection is the only other way out
EX08 expansion boardFour more module slots, eight interfaces on the panelA hotel with more analog rooms than the base ports allow
EX30 expansion boardOne E1/T1/PRI portA site with an existing PRI it is not ready to give up
DSP module100 more users and 30 more concurrent callsGrowth without replacing the unit

Beyond the on-board analog capacity, Yeastar supports analog phones through SIP gateways, and its auto-provisioning covers 500-plus hotel phones in one go, including analog sets behind gateways. That is how a 150-room hotel keeps its existing room phones on a P560.

Hot standby

The P560 and P570 support hot standby: a second identical unit that mirrors the first in real time and takes over if it fails. It needs a second appliance and a second set of licences. We recommend it where a failure is an incident rather than an inconvenience: a hotel’s front desk, a care home’s room phones, a town’s emergency operations line. For a school office, we usually recommend a cold spare instead, and say so.

How we supply an appliance

We order each appliance and its modules for the project, through Yeastar’s Canadian distributor, rather than holding stock. The unit comes to Calgary first, where we configure it and test it on our bench against the site’s trunks and handsets before it ships or we install it. The quote states the distributor lead time for the exact model and modules.

Frequently asked questions

Can a P560 be upgraded to a P570 later?

Not in place. The P560’s ceiling is 200 users and one expansion board. If a site may pass that, start on the P570.

Do we lose the analog room phones if we move to Yeastar?

No. Analog phones are carried on S2 modules, an EX08 board, or SIP gateways, and the hotel module provisions them. Keeping the rooms as they are is the usual plan in a takeover.

What happens to the phones if the appliance loses power?

The same as any phone system: nothing works until power returns, unless the site has a UPS, which we specify on every install. An SO module keeps one analog line alive through the outage for a single critical phone.

How long is the hardware warranty?

Yeastar does not publish a term on its product page. We confirm the current warranty with the distributor on every quote rather than repeat a number here that may be out of date.
