Handsets
Yealink handsets we provision with a Yeastar P-Series
Every P-Series we ship goes out with Yealink handsets already provisioned: the extension, the display name, the line keys and the firmware set on our bench in Calgary, so the phone works when it is plugged in. Yealink is the handset family Yeastar’s auto-provisioning covers most completely, and the range runs from a plain desk phone for a back office to a touch-screen operator set, a cordless handset for a care team, and a conference phone for a council chamber. Handsets and accessories are bought through the northstar.tel catalogue; systems are quoted.

Which phone for which desk
| Role | Model | Why |

| General staff desk | T46U | Colour screen, sixteen line keys, Gigabit. The default for an administration office |
| Front desk, school office, operator | T48U or T57W | Seven-inch touch screen, many visible line keys; the T57W adds built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth where cabling is hard |
| Small desk with Wi-Fi needed | T53W | Monochrome, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; for the portable classroom or the office with no spare port |
| Manager, GM, chief engineer | T54W | Colour screen, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for a headset, Gigabit |
| Executive or video | T58W | Android-based touch-screen set with an optional camera; the operator panel on a phone |
| Expansion keys | EXP43 (T4U series) / EXP50 (T5 series) | Busy-lamp fields for a front desk watching every extension |
| Cordless staff | W-series DECT (W7x handsets on a W80 or W90 multi-cell base) | Care teams, housekeeping, maintenance: a handset that follows the person across a building |
| Boardroom, council chamber | CP-series conference phone | Council meetings and the hotel boardroom; one phone the whole table can hear |
Models are drawn from the current Yealink T4U, T5 and W ranges as listed in Yealink’s partner catalogue on 4 November 2026. A model’s exact screen size, key count and port set are on its datasheet, which we link from each model’s catalogue page rather than retype here.
What "provisioned by North Star" means
- The handset is registered to its extension before it leaves Calgary, with the display name, line keys and speed dials set to the site’s plan.
- Firmware is the version we have tested with the site’s P-Series, not whatever was in the box.
- The phone’s admin password is set and recorded in the site’s documentation, not left at default.
- Replacement handsets are provisioned the same way, so a swap is a plug-in, not a configuration call.
Hotel room phones
Yealink’s desk phones are for staff. Guest rooms usually keep their existing analog sets, carried on the P-Series through modules or gateways; where a hotel wants new room phones, we quote hospitality handsets separately. The hotels page explains why keeping the rooms as they are is the usual plan in a takeover.
Where to buy
Handsets, headsets, expansion modules and cabling are in the northstar.tel catalogue with public list prices and stock bands, and ship with configuration support. Systems, trunks and anything needing a site visit are quoted. Handsets for an existing P-Series we do not support yet can still be provisioned by us, after a Health Check.
Frequently asked questions
Can we use handsets we already own?
Yealink handsets re-provision to a P-Series cleanly, and Yeastar’s auto-provisioning also covers Fanvil, Snom and Grandstream sets. We check the model and firmware during the Health Check.
Do you sell other brands?
We provision Yealink by default because the auto-provisioning is the most complete and the range covers every role. Other brands on request.
Do the phones work if the appliance is down?
No phone works without its system. Under an agreement the appliance is monitored and backed up, and hot standby is available where a failure is an incident.
What about headsets?
Yealink and other headsets connect by USB or Bluetooth to the T4U and T5 series; the catalogue lists the ones we stock.
