Yeastar P-Series
Yeastar P-Series Appliance Edition: P550, P560 and P570 compared
Three units cover almost every building we work in. The P550 is for a small site with no growth. The P560 is the workhorse: 100 users out of the box, 200 with a module, one expansion board, and the hotel add-on. The P570 is for 300 to 500 users or two expansion boards, which usually means a larger hotel or a multi-building campus. The P520 exists, but it has no API and no hotel integration, so it is not a unit we recommend for the buildings on this site.

Modules and boards
The appliance takes small telephony modules on its own slots, and the P560 and P570 take expansion boards that add more slots.
| Module or board | What it provides | Typical use in our buildings |
|---|---|---|
| S2 | Two analog station ports (FXS) | Room phones, pool phone, a fax, a door phone, the fire panel’s line |
| O2 | Two analog line ports (FXO) | A copper line kept for fallback, or a line from a legacy system during a takeover |
| SO | One FXS and one FXO, with PSTN fallback | A single analog line that still works if the unit loses power |
| B2 | Two BRI ports | Rare in Western Canada now; occasionally found in older municipal installs |
| 3G / 4G LTE | One cellular voice channel, or cellular data on a SIM | A backup path for an emergency line where the wired connection is the only other way out |
| EX08 expansion board | Four more module slots, eight interfaces on the panel | A hotel with more analog rooms than the base ports allow |
| EX30 expansion board | One E1/T1/PRI port | A site with an existing PRI it is not ready to give up |
| DSP module | 100 more users and 30 more concurrent calls | Growth without replacing the unit |
Beyond the on-board analog capacity, Yeastar supports analog phones through SIP gateways, and its auto-provisioning covers 500-plus hotel phones in one go, including analog sets behind gateways. That is how a 150-room hotel keeps its existing room phones on a P560.
Hot standby
The P560 and P570 support hot standby: a second identical unit that mirrors the first in real time and takes over if it fails. It needs a second appliance and a second set of licences. We recommend it where a failure is an incident rather than an inconvenience: a hotel’s front desk, a care home’s room phones, a town’s emergency operations line. For a school office, we usually recommend a cold spare instead, and say so.
Plans
| Plan | Appliance | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | One-time, with the unit | The phone system: extensions, trunks, call handling, Linkus, paging, emergency notification, basic security |
| Enterprise | Subscription | Call centre features, CRM integrations, remote archiving, Teams integration, advanced reporting |
| Ultimate | Subscription | Everything in Enterprise plus the top tier of video, operator panel and analytics features |
| Hotel management module | Add-on subscription | Room panel, wake-up calls, guest names, minibar posting, PMS interface (OPERA and other FIAS systems) |
| Remote management | Subscription, per unit | Yeastar Central Management: monitoring, alarms, remote access, scheduled backups. Required under our support agreements, because it is what makes the monitoring and the backups possible |
We state on every quote which plan a site needs and which subscriptions renew. Nothing is bundled silently.
Which unit for which building
| Building | Usual choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Independent hotel, 40 to 150 rooms | P560, hotel add-on, S2 modules or a gateway for rooms, hot standby if the owner wants it | 100 to 200 users covers rooms plus staff; one expansion board handles the analog count |
| Hotel above 150 rooms, or a resort with several buildings | P570 | Two expansion boards and 500 users |
| Independent school | P560, Standard or Enterprise, paging integration | Bells and PA are paging; Teams for staff needs Enterprise |
| Town office with public works, library and arena | P560 or Software Edition | Multi-site on one unit; Software if the town runs its own servers |
| Care home | P560, S2 modules for room phones, hot standby | Room phones are analog and are a lifeline |
| Small office, good connectivity | Tribe, not an appliance | See the P-Series overview |
How we supply an appliance
We order each appliance and its modules for the project, through Yeastar’s Canadian distributor, rather than holding stock. The unit comes to Calgary first, where we configure it and test it on our bench against the site’s trunks and handsets before it ships or we install it. The quote states the distributor lead time for the exact model and modules.
Frequently asked questions
Can a P560 be upgraded to a P570 later?
Not in place. The P560’s ceiling is 200 users and one expansion board. If a site may pass that, start on the P570.
Do we lose the analog room phones if we move to Yeastar?
No. Analog phones are carried on S2 modules, an EX08 board, or SIP gateways, and the hotel module provisions them. Keeping the rooms as they are is the usual plan in a takeover.
What happens to the phones if the appliance loses power?
The same as any phone system: nothing works until power returns, unless the site has a UPS, which we specify on every install. An SO module keeps one analog line alive through the outage for a single critical phone.
How long is the hardware warranty?
Yeastar does not publish a term on its product page. We confirm the current warranty with the distributor on every quote rather than repeat a number here that may be out of date.
