Yeastar P-Series

Tribe

Tribe is North Star’s hosted phone service: a Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition instance per customer, hosted by Yeastar and set up, supported and billed by us, with Yealink handsets we configure in Calgary and ship. It is for a Western Canadian business with one to a hundred seats, no IT staff, good connectivity and nothing analog. For a hotel, a school, a care home or a town with safety circuits, we will usually recommend an appliance instead, and we say so on this page so nobody has to find out later.

What Tribe is

  • A dedicated P-Series instance on the Cloud Edition, Enterprise or Ultimate plan. Yeastar runs the infrastructure; we configure it, support it and are your single point of contact.
  • The same features as every P-Series: Linkus on web, desktop and mobile; IVR, queues, ring groups; call recording; voicemail to email; Microsoft Teams integration; CRM integrations.
  • The AI receptionist and call transcription are available on this edition, metered.
  • Handsets pre-configured in Calgary, shipped, plugged in. Same-business-day support reply for live customers.
  • Our SIP trunks, so one party is accountable for the service and the carrier.

Who it is for

A professional office, a trades business, a clinic, a single-location restaurant: the business whose heart beats through the phone line and whose owner wants it to work without owning a box. Price-aware, time-poor, and tired of being a ticket number at a national carrier.

When Tribe is the wrong answer

We would rather say this here than on a service call:

  • Anything analog that matters: a fire panel’s line, an elevator phone, a pool phone, a door phone. Each needs a gateway, and the gateway depends on the internet link.
  • A building where the phone is a safety system. Hotels, schools, care homes, town facilities. Those are appliance sites.
  • Marginal connectivity. Rural sites with one link and no backup path.
  • A PMS. Yeastar’s documented OPERA integration covers the Appliance and Software editions.

The overview page explains how we choose between editions. The honest line: Tribe for the office, the appliance for the building.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tribe the same as Yeastar’s own cloud?

It runs on the same infrastructure. Tribe is the P-Series Cloud Edition hosted by Yeastar; what we add is the setup, the handsets, our SIP trunks and support from people in Calgary. You call us, not Yeastar.

Where is it hosted?

In Canada. Tribe runs in Yeastar’s own cloud, on Amazon Web Services’ Canada West region in Calgary, so call records, voicemail and recordings are stored in Canada. Your agreement names the region.

Can we keep our numbers?

Yes, ported to our trunks with your authorisation.

What happens if our internet goes down?

Calls to your number can be forwarded to mobiles automatically, and Linkus on a phone keeps working over cellular data. Desk phones in the office will not, which is the trade-off of any hosted service.

Tribe is a North Star Telecom service. Platform details from Yeastar’s P-Series product page, checked 4 November 2026.
