Yeastar P-Series
Yeastar P-Series Software Edition
The Software Edition is the P-Series without the box: the same system installed on a virtual machine or server the organisation controls, on site or in a data centre. It is licensed per user on the Enterprise or Ultimate plan, it is the only edition with disaster recovery across two servers and an outbound call centre, and it carries the AI features the appliance does not. For a county or a town with its own IT and servers, it is often the better answer; for a hotel or a school, the appliance usually is.

What it is
- Runs on VMware, Hyper-V, KVM or a bare server, or on a cloud instance the organisation owns.
- Licensed by user count, Enterprise or Ultimate plan, annual.
- Analog devices connect through SIP gateways, since there are no ports on a server.
- Managed through Yeastar Central Management like the appliance, so our monitoring, backups and remote access are the same.
What it adds over the appliance
| Capability | Software Edition | Appliance |
|---|---|---|
| Hot standby | Yes, with a second server | Yes, with a second unit |
| Disaster recovery across two sites | Yes, with a redundancy server | No |
| Outbound call centre | Optional add-on | No |
| AI receptionist, transcription, summaries | Yes, metered | No |
| Hotel module and PMS interface | Included at Enterprise and above | Paid add-on |
| User ceiling | Scales with the server | 200 (P560) or 500 (P570) |
| Analog ports on the unit | No | Yes |
Where it fits
- A county or a town with a server room. The IT manager prefers a virtual machine inside the environment they already back up and patch, with disaster recovery to a second site. The appliance’s safety-circuit argument still applies: the server is in the building, and analog circuits go through a local gateway.
- A multi-site organisation above the appliance’s ceiling, or one that wants an outbound call centre.
- Anyone who needs the AI features on a system that stays on their own infrastructure rather than in a partner’s cloud.
Where it does not fit: a site without someone to look after a server, or a site where the whole point is one box, one invoice and one number to call. That is the appliance under a support agreement.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Software Edition keep working if the internet is down?
If the server is on site, yes, for internal calls, paging and anything on a local gateway, the same as the appliance.
Who patches the server?
The organisation, or us under a Fully Managed agreement where the scope includes the host. We say which on the quote.
Can we move from an appliance to the Software Edition later?
Yes. Yeastar’s migration path carries the configuration between editions.
