New Yeastar installations
We ship to you, you plug it in, and we make sure it works. That line has described how we install phone systems since 2006, and it is still accurate: the system is built and tested in Calgary before it leaves, installed by our own technician across Alberta, and shipped with configuration support anywhere else in Canada.

How an install runs
- A conversation with a person. Not a quote form and a wait. We ask what the building is, what is analog, what has to keep working when the connection does not, and who answers the phone at night.
- Configuration in Calgary. Extensions, trunks, routes, IVRs, paging groups, schedules, the hotel module and PMS settings where there is one. The unit is run on our bench against a test trunk and a test PMS where applicable.
- On site, in Alberta. Our technician installs the unit, the handsets, the gateways and the paging or door-phone endpoints, tests every circuit, and walks the office through the operator panel. We do not use a contractor’s contractor.
- Shipped, elsewhere in Canada. The same pre-built unit, with a labelled port map, provisioning for the handsets, and a scheduled remote session to bring it up with your electrician or IT.
- Documentation handed over. The inventory, the port map, the schedule and the credentials. The same package we would want to inherit.
What each kind of building involves
| Building | The install, typically | What takes the time |
|---|---|---|
| Independent hotel | P560 with the hotel module, room phones kept or replaced, PMS interface, front-desk handsets, back-of-house paging, elevator and pool circuits | The PMS interface test and the room-by-room check |
| Independent school | P560, office handsets, classroom phones or intercom, bells through the paging system, front-door phone, 911 notification to the office | Scheduling around the summer window; the bell schedule |
| Town office and facilities | P560 or Software Edition, handsets at the office, public works and library, arena paging, Teams integration, analog lines for the fire panel and after-hours | Multi-site cutover and the council’s continuity questions |
| Care home | P560 with hot standby, analog room phones, nurse-station handsets, zone paging, after-hours door phone | Testing every room phone; coordinating with the nurse-call vendor |
Handsets
We provision Yealink handsets with every P-Series, because Yeastar’s auto-provisioning covers them and because the range runs from a basic desk phone to a touch-screen operator set. The models we recommend for each role are on the Yealink page. Phones and accessories are bought through the northstar.tel catalogue; systems are quoted.
What we need from you
- Who signs, and who will be our contact during the install.
- Network: a port per device with power over Ethernet, or we quote the switches.
- A UPS for the appliance, or we supply one.
- For a hotel, PMS vendor and version and the interface server’s details.
- For a school, the bell schedule and the dates the building is empty.
- Your numbers and the carrier they are with, with a letter of authorisation to port.
Frequently asked questions
How long between the quote and the install?
Depends on the site and on the distributor lead time for the appliance, which we order for each project and state on the quote. Configuration and bench testing in Calgary follow as soon as it arrives.
Do you install outside Alberta?
By arrangement, quoted. The usual path outside Alberta is a shipped, pre-configured system with a remote bring-up session.
Will you install a system we bought elsewhere?
Yes, with a Health Check first if it has been in service, and at our standard labour rate if it has not.
Can we keep our numbers?
Yes. Numbers port with your authorisation; the timing is set by the losing carrier, and we plan the cutover around it.

Start with a Telephony Health Check
A fixed-fee review of what you have, what 911 does, whether the life-safety circuits work, and where the money leaks. $1,500 for a single site, $2,500 for a campus, plus GST, with a written report either way.
